McBryde, Allerton, La'wa'i Gardens in Kauai

I'm confused about which of these gardens is it that everyone raves about here on the Boards. The BlueBible discusses only the La'wa'i Gardens and the Allerton Gardens as being part of the National Tropical Botanical Gardens in Kauai - and next to each other. Is it the same 2 1/2 tour? If not which one of these do I want to tour?

Also the Gardens website does not mention the La'wa'i Gardens but has a garden named McBryde as being next to Allerton.

If anyone can clear this up for me - Thanks.

Our island is blessed to have _3_ NTBG sites. On the southshore, there are two:

...and the awesome:

Up here on the north shore, is another gem:

And if you come to the north shore, don't miss our newest garden:

Tour them all, or choose just one -- you will not be disappointed!

I have been on the tour of the Allerton Gardens at the NTBG on the South shore in Poipu area. It is $30 pp, and is a guided tour. There is a different tour, of the Mcbride Gardens, which we were told are just another area of the NTBG. We were also told the Mcbride Tour is self-guided, as the Allerton Tour is a guided tour. I recommend the Allerton tour as we learned so much about the tropical plants in the garden from the tour guide, and about the Allerton Estate on the grounds. Allerton had a unique vision and formulated outdoor rooms and water features throughout the gardens. Another added feature was a tour of the garden area featured in Jurassic Park. You'll recognize the "tree" that housed the dinosaur egg nest. Hope this helps.

I have been on all the tours.

Allerton is guided, tons of info, really beautiful setting. Don't arrive late-they will leave without you! Ditto McBryde--even tho it is self guided you must take a scheduled tram to get there.

Na Aina Kai on the north shore is lovely. It was created by its owner who is the ex-wife of cartoonist Charles Schulz! She is very fond of brass statues and her collection is charming and eye popping!

Limahuli Gardens is part of the National Tropical Botanical Gardens, it is almost to the end of the road on the north shore. It is stunning, like being in a prehistoric world. Self guided tour is $10. This is a really fabulous stop.

We probably only have time for one tour. Which one would you do?
