November through April are the best months.

When we went in April, they were nearly all gone, so I would probably go earlier next time. If you don't see a whale on your tour, they offer you a coupon to come back again another time for free.

If you do a search: whale peak season Hawaii

Most articles have January & February as Peak season. Other articles say February & March.

There will be lots of whales at Christmas time. Maui is the best island for whale watching.

We only saw a couple far off from shore when we spent Christmas on Maui. Just a plume in the distance and a wisp of a tail. They were just starting to arrive.

Much better on our past trip to Lanai/Molokai in mid/3rd week January.

However if you do a whale watch, I'm sure they'll findem!

If Whales are calling you I'd skip the high Holiday rates and go late January on.

We were there this last February and saw dozens every hour. We went with the idea of taking a boat ride, but after the first day figured we could see all we wanted from the hotel deck. They were close enought we could hear them slap the water when they jumped.
