Maui whale watching

Heading to Maui in the near future and would like to do some whale watching. We've been to Maui before but have never seen the whales. Does anyone recommend any tours for this? Thanks.

We used Pacific Whale Foundation - had a great time. We got into a group of males chasing a female and it was very exciting! Loved every minute. Going again in March and will use them again.

We have done several whale watches and prefer the smaller boats such as Captain Steve's out of Lahaina or catamarans that leave from Kaanapali.

Pacific Whale Foundation does a really good job and is the non-profit which really watches over and helps manage the populations, does whale counts, etc so if you use them part of the proceeds helps support the whales cause. Not affiliated just a 50 year resident who has sailed with them a number of times and supports the cause. Other independent ships do a good job too. Depending on your interests there are some that do combo tours like a whale watch and a snorkel cruise out to Molokini which is very cool. Its a semi submerged volcano in the ocean which has created a rich feeding area for fish. Great diving, whales sometimes come in really close and even sharks which can be exciting or scary for some. Took friends from the Mainland there a few years ago and it was hard to get them out of the water, especially after the saw a couple of fish almost their size out over the deeper dropoff as well as a shark.
