Maui restaurant reservations

For a July visit to Maui, can dinner reservations wait to be made once we arrive? In some resorts areas we have visited we've had to make reservations up to two months in advance. I don't like doing that because we prefer to be flexible on our vacations, but if some of the must-do restaurants will be booked otherwise we'll try it.

We have never made reservations more than two days ahead in Hawaii...... and always gotten into the better restaurants when we wanted to. Maybe if I wanted to be sure of a special table for an important occasion, I might call a couple of weeks before my arrival date to see if it could be arranged.

I was hoping that was the case. I hate to get hemmed into a reservation. Thanks for the info.

The Hawaii island hopper thread turned into quite the conversation didn't it! It's interesting to see how people differ on these things.

Jayne, one good thing to rememember about dining on Maui....... there are so many good restaurants that if you weren't able to get into one, there's always other good ones, but, really, we've always gotten in when we wanted to.

Yes, the Island Hopper conversation was a good one.....;-) It's easy to misunderstand what people are trying to say sometimes, when you can't see expressions and you don't *know* the *speaker* really. And sometimes, on these Forums, I think some intentionally *misunderstand* you to stir the pot a bit..... Oh, well, all in good fun! You WILL have a wonderful trip......... I'm sure of that!

As long as there's fast food and room service the kids will be happy. We don't usually "make" them eat out with us every night on vacation. It's their vacation too and if they prefer staying at the pool or renting a movie, they're old enough to do so without worrying about them. It's so liberating!

Jayne, you are very brave to go to Hana with three kids in the cars!!! That's great that the kids can do their own thing while you go out in the evening..........

Brave or crazy--not sure which. We'll probably just head there and keep going until we can't stand the complaining any longer or one of them gets car sick (that's one of their favorite ploys--unless one of them is green we keep going!)
