Maui Restaurants
I have 8 nights in Maui and after much research, I have selected the following restaurants:
Sarento's
Pacifico's
Nicks Fish Market
Sansei
Plantation House
David Pauls
Mama's
Spago
Am I missing any of the 'top' restaurants. I've also read good things about Hailemale General Store. Do you recommend I replace a restaurant above for Hailemaile? If so, which one.
Thanks for your help!

Replace Spago--with Haliimaile, Seawatch, or with anything else for that matter! It doesn't belong on this list. You can also have a nice brunch or lunch at Haliimaile. You might also want to replace Plantation House or Sarentos with Roy's (not on your list but should be right up there with Mama's). All others are great choices. These are all pricey places.

Hi, Sarento's and Pacific'o always receive great reviews on this site. We want to visit Pacific'o soon, but Sarento's is an Italian restaurant - I love Italian food, but choose not to eat it in Hawaii. Hallimaille General Store is overrated,, we gave it a second chance but were still not happy. At the time we were there the wait staff "were doing us a favor" by waiting on us. Roy's on The Big Island is excellent, haven't been to the one on Maui. Seawatch is a very fine restaurant - the food is very good, and the view is wonderful, do not eliminate this one. Of course, things change, and so in a year who knows if restaurants remain constant. Hopefully, for the most part they do. The restaurants with wonderful views will never change, only the menu.

Check out trip advisor about Mama's Fish House.
We go to Maui quite often, but have always stayed away from that place. Lot's of folks love it, but it is very expensive and it seems to get spotty reviews at times.
We've been to HaileMaile several times. It's hit or miss. Sometimes, the food is marvelous. Others, just average. Guess you just need to order the right thing.

We stayed at the Four Seasons 2 years ago when Spago first opened and loved it. In fact, we ate their twice. We had the tasting menu, I believe and it was one of our more memorable meals. Last year we ate lunch at Mama's right after arriving on the plane. It seems so out of the way if you are staying on the otherside of the island. We enjoyed it. Lunch time wasn't crowded and it is slightly less expensive than dinner.

Pacific'O (or I'O), Mama's (but dress lightly, it's warm!), Cafe Sauvage (a real sleeper), Sansei (in Kapalua), David Paul's. Hailelalle General Store is nice. Avoid Paia Fish Market - gross!
Hear mixed messages about Sarento's ... isn't it Italian? Why in Maui?
Plantation House is said to be very nice. Maalaea Waterfront Restaurant is good ... ask for a table outside on their porch, it's hot inside!

Meljoy- did you go to college in D.C by any chance? I had a roommate that used to call herself "meljoy"!
Out of the restaurants you mentioned, I really liked Pacifico's, Nick's, Sansei (still thinking about the yellowtail), & Spago. I am one of the few who did not understand the big fuss about Mama's. Did not think it was anything special for the price. Went to Hailemale for lunch and thought it was just ok. Have been to Roy's a few times on maui and have always had a great meal.
