Maui or Maui & Kauai

We have 8 nights for our Hawaii vacation and have reservations at the Maui Hyatt for 4 nights. Should we stay at Maui for the remaining 4 nights or head to Kauai?

If you stay the entire time on Maui, do the road to Hana, to see the lush greenery, etc. If you are going on to Kauai, I would skip that this time because you'll see lush and green on Kauai. Personally, I would spend the entire time on Maui, and not use one of my days *re-locating.* Have a wonderful time!

If this will be your only trip to Hawaii for a while, I would vote for doing 4Maui, 4Kauai. Taking the first interisland flight in the morning will save you precious daylight/activities. If you're coming back soon then just stay on one or the other. Agree with crazy4HI previous statement, there is no wrong way to do Hawaii.

I'd spend the entire time on Maui. You might want to consider staying the remaining 4 days on the Wailea side of Maui. To split your time between the two islands wouldn't be nearly as relaxing as staying put on Maui.

I would do 2 more nights at the Hyatt and then do two nights in Hana at a rental or the Hotel Hana Maui. Do Kauai on its own on a future trip. Have a great trip!

I just did 5 nights on Kauai and 5 nights on Maui. Thought it was perfect to see both islands. The flight was so easy on Hawaiian Air. We departed Kauai at 8am and landed after a brief stop in Honolulu at 10am and had the entire day in Maui. You would just do the reverse flight. However, 8 days is cutting it kind of close to do two islands because there is so so much to do on each island. Ultimately, it depends if you want to be totally relaxing (stay in Maui), or go for the adventure of running around both islands and probably being a little more tired but seeing much more.

IMO I would want 5 nights on each island. Don't forget you will be wasting part of one of your days doing the interisland travel flight, rental car pickup, etc...
