Maui or Maui & Kauai

If you stay the entire time on Maui, do the road to Hana, to see the lush greenery, etc. If you are going on to Kauai, I would skip that this time because you'll see lush and green on Kauai. Personally, I would spend the entire time on Maui, and not use one of my days *re-locating.* Have a wonderful time!

If this will be your only trip to Hawaii for a while, I would vote for doing 4Maui, 4Kauai. Taking the first interisland flight in the morning will save you precious
daylight/activities. If you're coming back soon then just stay on one or the other. Agree with crazy4HI previous statement, there is no wrong way to do

I just did 5 nights on Kauai and 5 nights on Maui. Thought it was perfect to see both islands. The flight was so easy on Hawaiian Air. We departed Kauai at 8am and landed after a brief stop in Honolulu at 10am and had the entire day in Maui. You would just do the reverse flight. However, 8 days is cutting it kind of close to do two islands because there is so so much to do on each island. Ultimately, it depends if you want to be totally relaxing (stay in Maui), or go for the adventure of running around both islands and probably being a little more tired but seeing much more.
