Thanks to everyone for your feedback. Our trip is now booked and we will be heading to Hawaii for 8 days for our honeymoon. Again, we appreciated all the feedback. We will post our comments upon our return.

We started out in Maui. It was beautiful. We stayed at the Sheraton five star hotel. The view was breathtaking and you could snorkel right from the beach. We rented a car and drove the entire island stopping in shops and visiting with natives. On day five, we flew to Kauai. When we landed, I was awestruck. Our hotel was right on the water. The first thing we did was take a helicopter ride. The Jurassic Park waterfalls were absolutely breathtaking. The north shore was awesome and I enjoyed the snorkeling. Although Maui was very, very pretty, there was something very serene about Kauai. It is less inhibited and mountainess. We hiked, kayaked and sat on our deck overlooking the water. I guess if I ever get a chance to go back, I would prefer Kauai. The chickens cracked me up! They were everywhere! What an awesome place.

From what you said, it sounds like Kauai is for you. We did 8 days on Maui and 7 days on Kauai for our honeymoon and we loved both for different reasons. We want to go back for our tenth anniversary, but we'd probably only go to Maui this time (for time and cost reasons). Maui is more our style overall, but adventure lovers would like Kauai more I would think.
