Maui: Maui Kai or Mahana

Looking to go in Sept. Are there any huge differences between these 2 properties? I was able to check out the Maui Kai by going to the awaketowaves website. Is there a similiar one for the Mahana? Also, anyone know how much cab fare would be to go to the restaurants on Front St in Lahaina? Last time we stayed at Lahaina Shores and thought it was nice to be able to walk to some nightlife.
Thanks

I haven't stayed at the Mahana but it seems to be a very nice property. We stayed twice at The Maui Kai and really enjoyed it. There is shuttle service to Whaler's Village, but not Lahaina. The Mahana has tennis courts, a plus over the Maui Kai. But we liked the gazebo, BBQ and Pool area at the Maui Kai. A perfect place to hang out at night after a full-day of Maui activities. Its a toss-up as they both offer oceanfront views from every room. We prefer the corner rooms at the Maui Kai. It provides windows on two sides. Makes it feel more like an apartment, less like a hotel room.

We have stayed 4 different times at the Mahana and loved it. All the units face the ocean and the views are terrific. You should be able to find a website for The Mahana, everyplace inthe world has one these days

Some 1 bedroom condos have 2 bathrooms (we were lucky to get these twice). If I remember correctly they are the units that end in "15", i.e. 715, etc. Don't anyone kill me if I am wrong tho!! As with all condos some are better furnished then others, but again we have been lucky and always got nicely decorated ones.

Sorry, I have no idea about cab fare, we always had a rental car. I would suggest you rent a car too, you really need one to go anyplace.

Thanks so much for you replies!! We are renting a car but wanted to be able to get to the nightlife without driving. I've heard that cab fare to Lahaina was over $15 one way?? And it's only 2 miles away. That's sounds like way too much.
