We are going there on the timeshare deal and was wondering if those that have already stayed there.....which building/floor is best to request. I know there were some posts about certain buildings/rooms being bad location. Would appreciate your suggestions....too good of a deal not to stay there....

Maui Marriott has a great location on Kaanapali Beach. Hotel is changing to a timeshare. Cheaper rooms will have view of hills, not ocean. Excellent luau dinner and show, pricey but discounts are all over the island. Enjoy!

We stayed there in Nov on a good deal but not a timeshare deal. We had a room between the 5th and 7th floor (can't really remember which one)in the hotel section which is on the south side of the hotel. The north side has the timeshare units. It was also all the way to the front of the wing but not facing the pool side it faced toward Lahaina. The room was high enough to see the ocean instead of the parking garage which was down below us. Also we were just above the Luau so we had a nearly nightly seranade. Not to worry, it ends pretty early.
The one thing about this location is the debate on whether to hike to the elevator or just take the stairs. We usually took the stairs up and down. Going up taxed our legs the first couple of days but after that we got used to it, but I never got used to feeling dizzy going down racing the kids to the pool!!!! ; ) I would definitly prefer this location than further back on the wing that faces south. If you can, get a room that faces the pool. Both husband and I thought that the open railing that looked down to the tile lobby area was too creepy and made the kids walk against the wall so as not to be close to the railing.
Good things about the Marriott:
Cafe by the pool. Great sandwiches!!!!! Also if you like Starbucks coffee or drink soda, buy one of their Marriott mugs on the first day (holds quite a bit, at least 16 oz) for $22 and all refills throughout your stay are FREE. It will be worth it.
Va Bene has great food. If you eat outside on a Luau night you can hear the luau AND eat good food.

Beach is fine, even better 5 min walk down the beach at Black Rock. Whalers Village(shopping, restaurants) is practically next door and you'll love the Hula Grill there(right on the beach.). And the golf course is right out your door. Marriott is a GREAT location.
