Maui & Kawai

I have two questions that I was wanting some help on.

#1 - Has anyone stayed at the Aston Mahala in Maui. Comments, etc.

#2 - Looking for good restaurants in Kauai.

We are going to be on both islands in September.

Thanks!!!!

Well, I can answer the Kauai restaurant question-
if you are looking for a great view, I would recommend the restaurant at Hanalei Bay Resort called Bali Hai.. More fine dining.
Zelo's BEach HOuse is fun and is in Hanalei on the strip. Casual, some outdoor tables, Hawaiian-surfing theme.
Has agood variety.
The BEach HOuse restaurnt in Poipu is on the water and has good reviews.
Our favorite casual place in Poipu is BRennecke's on the Beach. Very open air resturant with a view of Poipu Beach. Great stawberry pina coladas. It's a place you can go after spending time at the beach across the street.
If you want some great ice cream, go to Lampert's in Old Koloa town. (on the way to Poipu) My favorite is white chocolate macadamia nut in a waffle cone)
Have fun!!

Don't know alot about North Shore Kauai restaurants, generally there are fewer than on west or south shores. I usually stay on the South Shore. South Shore recommendatins:
Upscale: Beach House, Roy's, Plantation Garden( at Kiahuna Plantation Resort).
Casual: Kioki's, Brennecke's, Brick Oven Pizza ( in Kalaheo)

My favorite- Beach House. Best location on the island, right on water, excellent sunset dining, great food.
Have a great time. I will be on the island in 2 weeks and cannot wait....

On Kauai try A Pacific Cafe in Kapa'a (west side) for first rate dining, perhaps the best on the island. Be warned that there is no view.

I think you mean the Aston Mahana -- not Mahala. The Mahana is really nice. Have been returning every year for the past 10 years. Every room is ocean front. Open the front door to see the sun rise over the West Maui Mountains and then the ocean side sliders to the lanai to see the sun set in the evening. You won't be sorry if you choose this condo. All rooms clean and well appointed and comfortable. Pool is basic but nice.

Thanks BobBarb - you are correct - it is Aston Mahana.

Also, it might be good to mention that we are staying on the west side in Kauai.

I really appreciate all of the information that I am getting from this site.
