Maui airport transportation

What is the best way to get from OGG to West Maui hotels (Lahaina, Kaanapali area)?. Round trip, 3 nights stay, 2 adults, 1 bag each.

thanks!

Shop for a rental car. There are several major rental car companies at OGG and one local company that uses older cars that they keep in good shape.

Agreed. I would want a rental car if I were staying in Maui.

A rental car is highly advised on the outer islands in Hawaii. Try this to start, but do shop around and make a cancelable reservation and keep checking after that. Car rental rates change constantly. https://www.discounthawaiicarrental.com/

I totally agree that you'll want a car. In addition to discount Hawaii if you're a member of Costco they often have good rates for Hawaii. Just keep checking the rates as I've found that rates change frequently.

What other airport? There are two smaller airports on Maui with limited air service from other Hawaiian Islands, but even then, I think you will want a rental car to see the island.

The flight to a smaller airport will cost far more than the cost of a rental car at OGG IMO. You still need a car to see even the west half of the island.

JHM Kapalua. Fare was minimal difference, and we may still rent a car!
