We rented from Snorkel Bob's. They were great. Price was great too. It was 2 for one for the week and I think the total was $18.00. All gear comes with a net bag. Choose a different color for each person to avoid mingling of spit!. They give you the defogger free as long as you return the bottle and they have a night return slot if you can't get to them before they close. They also handed us several of the fish charts so you can name the fish you see. One was laminated so you can swim with it if you want. It's located in Lahaina on your way to the Embassy Suites. Super easy to find and easy in and out.

About the Costco membership. At the Costco I go to, you can get a day pass. It will cost you 5% over the amount that you spend. Costco also has a good selection of mac nuts and other hawaiian goodies. We also bought good snorkle gear and fins for a decent price.

I don't about the one day pass of which teresazone spoke but if there is such a thing, with 6 people and 8 days, it is worth many times more than the 5% and it's right next to the airport. You could do costco/walmart and have pretty much everything you needed food and otherwise and fill in from the star mkt across from embassy. Cuts your grocery bill 30 - 50% over safeway etc.

hey there....we are from Canada and going to Maui in January, never been and don't know what to expect. We are staying at the Maui Schooner and I am wondering the same things as darboymom.......we have condos with kitchens, etc..... but like for groceries and things like that...are places pretty accessible? what about prices for things? Milk, cereals, snacks, fruit??We want to keep our costs down too. There are 5 of us ( 2 big people and 3 little people) plus my mom and dad are coming too.....so any ways to save $ and any tips would be greatly appreciated. My sister is scaring the crap out of me because she says EVERYTHING is SOOOOO expensive.......
