I, too, would love to hear reports of dinner here. Price is something like $350 but from what I have heard, it is really wonderful. If you do not want to go that high, Megu has fabulous food in a WOW atmosphere. Their original palce is in Tribeca but they have just opened a branch on First Avenue in the Trump building.

Masa, in the Time Warner Center, is predictably incredible (and incredibly small). Is it worth the $500 per person? Not in my opinion, but I didn't pay, so it was worth every penny!

Gekko I wish I had more friends willing to treat me!
My sister had dinner at Megu last night and raved about it..not Masa but worth keeping in mind for high-end Japanese. She was focuced on the food, not at all on the scene, although she said the place was beautiful and filled with men in suits. She raved about, among other things, the "kobe" skewers ($60 for four!!!) which of course cannot be real kobe here but was nontheless great.

Gekko you must be such a gracious guest. With manners like yous I'm surprised that Masa let you in (but actually your hosts got the reservation, you were just a tag-a-long weren't you)
I have not had the oppotunity to dine here and would love to hear a first hand report!

Just wanted to let everyone know about my dinner at Masa NY.I have to say that there was hardly anything I liked about it. My opinion has nothing to do with the price although I have to say it is a total ripoff.(1,000 dollars)for two.The Food was poorly presented and lacking taste so I will not bore you with the details,Desert was a grapefruit ice ball.Service was not up to par and yes we went somewhere else for dessert.I love sushi but would not rec. this rest.to anyone, again not because of the price but because of everything that is lacking here.

Wow, that's terrible. You should contact the restaurant. For $500, you should expect and receive an extraordinary experience.
For the record, my visit was about one month after Masa opened. Perhaps things have changed.
(As an aside, the whole Time Warner Center as a dining experience? Lame.)
