Martha's Vineyard Off Season Hotels
Hi, I'm looking for some info on hotels in the off season on Martha's Vineyard. I was reading some reviews on this site http://www.explorenewengland.com/tra...rthas_vineyard of places to go but i'm not sure whether the places are open during the off season. Looking for a romantic weekend getaway and woudlnt' mind staying at a charming place in Edgartown or maybe way out desolate like Gay Head or Menmesha someplace? Any ideas would be appreciated. Also, any ideas on whether it's significantly cheaper to go to the island in late November or early December? Is everything closed? Thanks!

Off season we have stayed at the Wyndham Harbor View in Edgartown, and the Mansion House in Vineyard Haven.Edgartown is a nicer place to stay in my opinion, and we liked the Harbor View Hotel a lot.Try to get an ocean view room if you stay there. The breakfast buffet was not that good, and was very expensive.Off season, we could not find another breakfast place open in Edgartown. Most restaurants were open for lunch and dinner though, and I can recommend the Alchemy Bistro for a nice meal, or Newes from America for a casual meal.
Another place that looked nice was the Hobb knob inn in Edgartown-we tried to stay there but it was booked.

I can pretty much echo what jd said. We stayed in Edgartown last February for a single over night. We were at the Sharon House, where our room was very nice, and cozy. But they don't serve breakfast. And neither did anybody else in Edgartown on a Sunday ( I think Harborview was even closed, we tried to go there). All the shops were closed, and it was really deserted...too deserted, I think. Many nicer restaurants were closed at dinner time on Saturday as well. We did eat dinner at Alchemy which was very nice. I would probably stay in Vineyard Haven which seems to have the most open stuff in the winter time. Or possibly try the Outermost Inn in Aquinnah, which is very isolated and might be fun.
That said, it might be different in the Christmas season. Probably slightly more stuff is open.
