Hamptons
Hello,
My husband and I would like to visit the Hamptons, NY this thanksgiving weekend.
1.) Is it a good time to visit Hamptons?
2.) Need recommendation for places to stay
3.) What kind of budget should we pan for?
we would like to relax, explore the local town, shopping, biking, and visit some local attractions.
Thanks,
wparmar

Yes and no. The Hamptons is becoming a more year-round destination, but much of what people like about the Hamptons will be closed or hard to do because of the weather. We visited once in Feb and many restaurants/stores were closed. On the other hand, it won't be crowded and if you like walking along the beach in sweatshirts it's for you.
2.) Need recommendation for places to stay
You will have lots of options then, what are your interests? B&B, larger hotel, condo?
3.) What kind of budget should we pan for?
Again, depends on what you plan to do. I would check into the accommodations first. Restaurants can be pricey, but there are also lower-cost alternatives.

Thanksgiving is not a great time to visit - since MANY places wil be closed for the season (hotels, restaurants etc). It can still be fun to walk the beach on a cold day and the museums are usually open (but may be reduced hours) and wineries and shopping.
Prices hsould be reasonable then - for the places that are still open. but you will also have to pay for a car rental (or are you nearby and driving?)

1) It's not the best time but also not the worst. There are many more places closed in Montauk than in the Hamptons. While some restaurants and shops close for the winter, more stay open than years past and some are at least open on weekends.
2)
>A Butler's Manor Southampton gets good reviews on tripadvisor if you like a b & b.
>1708 House also in Southampton is a nice Inn.
>Enclaveinn.com is more like motels with several locations.
>Mill House Inn in East Hampton
>1770 House in East Hampton
>Maidstone Arms in East Hampton
are all lovely. Read reviews on tripadvisor and see which appeal to you the most.
