A question for jmp1414:

If the Ritz "accepts" Marriott points, does it "give" Marriott points for staying there? I assume not, but just checking. My husband is a platinum Marriott awards member but on this trip we're earning, not spending points.

Thanks.

You can't earn Marriott points at a Ritz just used a LOT of them to stay at a Ritz Carlton..if you have them to burn then what a beautiful resort and close enough to Lahaina, as well as Kahana which has tons of excellent restaurants. But you cannot earn points at Ritz.

In adddition to vengle comments, even the Marriot Visa card you will not earn bonus miles. However, Ritz in Fall you can save approx 25% as point-saver hotel.

To all that replied, thanks for all the great input!!! After some thought about your recent posts I booked at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua in Maui. Need a bit more in points to get 2 rooms for a week but should be able to make up the difference with upcoming travel and MR visa purchases and worst case would have to purchase some points( you're allowed to purchase up to 10% of total needed). From all I've heard it's quite nice and very upscale. Talked to friends who happened to stay there recently and they raved about it. I really wanted Maui and figured what the heck, might as well splurge Were won't go until next summer but we're pretty excited about it and I think it was the right move. Once again, THANKS and thanks to jmp1414 for initiating the thought!!!
