It's a very tall, modern hotel. It's on 4th & Market, which is a central downtown location close to Yerba Buena Gardens (SF Museum of Modern Art + more). It's also pretty close to the Powell Street cable car, Union Square, and other main sights.
The only downside is that this section of Market Street has had a number of homeless people camped out on the street. They panhandle for money, but it's not unsafe. I was just in that area last weekend and it was much cleaner than in the past.

Just spent one week at this Marriott, and it's perfectly safe. That's an excellent price - jump on it!! There are some homeless, but less than in years past. And the problem get much worse the farther out Market you go. This is an excellent location. And try Annabella's across 4th street - great place for lunch!

Hello SallyKate, you will be fine at the Marriott, btw, it has a nickname as the "jukebox" due to the building design. Personally I love the design of the building.
You will be entering on 4th St. and as others have told you this is a fine hotel. You got a good price too.
Welcome to San Francisco!
