Mariott's Desert Springs Villa's II Questions?

Hi, we are able to book tihs time share and wanted to see what people think of it?

Does the place have a good workout facility?

We have no kids so could you give me some ideas of hiking type of activities we could take in while we are there?

Thanks!

Hiking, what time of year are you going?

http://cvhikingclub.net/

Most hiking this time of year will be from the top of the tram. October will bring the first return of reasonable hiking temps. Just walk around inside your complex. You will have to get up really early to beat the heat.

We are going to be there the end of October. I think it should be a bit cooler, at least I hope

Do you know what the resort is like? I am anxious to hear ideas of things we can do in the area.

Thanks!

October is usually one of the nicer months, still warm enough for the pool but not too hot. You may find the fairways brown and mowed, and a lot of lawnmowers and dust if you are staying on the golf course. Marriott should know their reseeding schedule by now.

I have not stayed here since used to own a condo nearby. It's a big complex. Have you tried the search feature?

Thanks again! I tried the search feature in here for tihs complex and the only thing that came up was my post I was able to find a few posts on Desert Springs area.

I checked with Trip Advisor and I found some nice reviews so that made me feel better.

You never know til you get there no matter what their website claims. It is always nice to get a heads up from people who have been there or at least know the area.

Thanks again for your respose

For hiking activities nearby, I should have mentioned the Living Desert (go straight up Portola). In addition to the zoo (features desert critters and plants) there are some nice hiking trails. There is an admission charge, discounts are available.

I have stayed at the Desert Springs Villas (not sure if it was I or II) and they are nice. It is quite a hike to the main JW Marriott hotel complex, but there are shuttles that circle the property regularly. There is an Italian Restaurant, Tuscany, at this Marriott that we really enjoyed. There is also a Japanese Teppan-yaki style restaurant that we haven't yet tried.

In addition to the PS Tramway www.pstramway.com, and the Living Desert, you could take also a trip to Joshua Tree Nat'l Park (http://www.nps.gov/jotr/).

If you do a search for "Palm Springs" on this board, you will find other activity and restaurant recommendations.
