Marin restaurants

Haven't been to the Bay Area in 12 years, but will be there in June. Probably staying at Embassy Suites in San Rafael. I hear that Sam's in Tiburon is still there, but would like any recommendations on other Marin restaurants. Thanks!

Lark Creek Inn (rustic California) and Guaymas (Mexican) in Tiburon both excellent with good views. I'll try to get back with more later after asking some friends who are in Marin.

Thanks, Caitlin! Is Rancho Nicasio still open? They used to have great prime rib...

We love Buckeye Roadhouse... although it can get very busy.

I keep reading this post even though I'm not going to Marin in the near future: there is a restaurant in Marin where I had the most incredible chocolate creme brulee; I can't remember the name of it for the life of me...

Rancho Nicasio is still there. I don't think it has and will ever change!

Try the Left Bank for rustic French in Larkspur (close to Lark Creek Inn, which has been disappointing lately). Also Vasco in Mill Valley for light Italian in a great setting. Sushi Ko in Larkspur Landing has terrific sushi and Japanese food. Marin Joe's still has good Italian/American food in huge quantities. Insalata's and Bubba's Diner in San Anselmo are also very good.

If you're staying at the Embassy Suites in SR and want a casual lunch nearby, check out Eduardo's for great soup/salads/sandwiches and Bogey's (diner style) next to the Civic Center. Le Chalet Basque still serves great food and is very close by. Just drive out N. San Pedro Rd. about two miles and it'll be on your left -- nice patio too.

For a great view, try Horizon's restaurant in Sausalito. It's on the water and has a beautiful outdoor patio. If you manage to get a seat out there on a sunny day, you'll never want to leave. I've only eaten there for breakfast so I can't comment on the lunch and dinner menu, but their eggs benedict are fabulous! Have fun!
