You will spend most of your time driving back and forth to Naples. That's where all the good restaurants and shops are. Other than the beach and a bunch of tacky shops, there's not much in Marco.

Yes, there's one thing on Marco - TONS of traffic!! I agree with xxx, go to Marco for a day, and back to Naples. Lots to do there!

I'm not sure where xxx & Fritz are coming from but there are a lot of nice places to have some eats. Sights yes but eats no. Here are a few suggestions:

Little Bar on Goodlands, about 10 minutes away - great Snapper - Sunday is a great time to go.

Stan's - next door to Little Bar - also great Snapper.

Kretch's - Seafood

Marriott Voyager

Snook Inn - Fri or Sat Night

Breakfast Plus on Collier in a mall - The menu is unbelievable.

Blackwater Nick's - Pelican Bend - Isle of Capri

Joey's Pizza

Sand Bar - Fried Grouper Sandwich

Pelican Bend - Isle of Capri

There is a German restaurant across the street from the Hilton which is reasonable and very good. I think it's called Konrads - Bavarian Inn or Old Marco Inn.

Susie's is also a great place for breakfast

Arturo's - Italian

Cafe De Marco - Seafood

I like Tigertail Beach on Marco. You might also want to rent a boat or go kayaking. I like Snook Inn - very casual but it is right on the water and they have live music.

Ned, I've eaten at at least half of the places you mention. Yes they are decent places to "have some eats", but none of them would be anywhere near what I'd call a "great" restaurant.
Perhaps that's all scott is looking for, so they will fit the bill as places to "have some eats."

Scott, I happen to think that Cafe de Marco is better than most restaurants in Naples! When we go to Marco Island we go for the beach & the sunsets. I have never been to MI in December so cannot comment on the traffic. When we go there (May &/or Oct.) there is no heavy traffic. Every time someone asks about Marco Island we "round up the usual suspects" & bash the place. But there are some (like me!) who think that for a "beach holiday" it is great! Why not do a search here & see what people have to say?

Eat at Sale y Pepe in the Marco Beach Ocean Resort. Absolutely outsdanding! It has received wonderful reviews by all the local mags and newspaper.

Interesting about "all the local mags and newspaper" giving wonderful reviews to Sale y Pepe. I watch those things all the time and have yet to see a single one. Can you quote one? I certainly haven't seen a review by Gulfshore Life or N magazine. When was one in the Naples Daily News?

This Board has had a long running pro/anti Marco dispute.Marco's a great place for a family vacation. You and your sons may want to try a 1/2 or full day fishing charter.Marco is also close to the Everglades Nat'l Park.

Sale and Pepe is highly overrated and has terrible service. Granted, I was there when the hotel had just opened last year. But the service was lousy, the manager did not seem to care, and the dinner for two was more expensive than our dinner in the Grill Room at the Ritz Naples, which was far superior.
