Haven't stayed there, but we did go in and have a look around last week. It is very lovely - sleek and modern decor. The doorman, etc., were all quite friendly and happy to show us around. Lots of art everywhere. The restaurant looked very nice as well. We didn't get to see a room, however, so can't comment on the rooms.

Okay, we just arrived at the Mansion and it is quite amazing. It's what I would call luxury. For $139 a night, you can't beat it (the travelzoo special). I am actually writing this because of the free internet access in each room. There is a double shower with a rain showerhead, a separate toilet and a marble vanity. We will be leaving soon for the trolly tour of the city and dinner at The Olde Pink House. I'll write a trip report when I get back. You will LOVE the Mansion.

Hi Rocky!
I am soooo happy you were able to post right from your hotel room! We are very excited about our trip. We will be checking in on May 2nd. Last night we watched "Midnight in The Garden" again..just to catch up. Please write more. We have reservations at The Olde Pink House for May 3rd, so I am anxious to hear about your dinner too. Thank you so much again for writing. Looking forward to reading more.
Starrsville: I was not able to find the article in The AJC yet. It may come up later in the week.

Hi Marcia,
From my trip report on Savannah, here is my Dinner at the Olde Pink House.until Rocky reports back in
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Saturday dinner: The Olde Pink House...the most haunted and photographed house in Savannah according to our waiter-Kevin.
A perfect waiter btw.
I had roast portabello mushroom with grilled tomotoes, and seared Halibut with potato au gratin and dessert was flourless chocolate tort..(of course)
The Yankee had artichoke fritters stuffed with goat cheese and Grouper stuffed with blue crab with a twice baked potato..dessert was sorbet.
Glasses of wine and the bill came to $110-

I only remember that I wore a sleeveless dress and I think my husband wore a white shirt and black trousers ( his usual)
It was June and already steamy.
You do have to make reservations though, and you will still probably have to wait downstairs in the bar (which is kind of interesting)..

I just asked the Yankee about the dress code and he said that he remembered seeing some men in Polo shirts and someone in shorts.
But it is a "nice" restaurant so you won't feel out of place at all if you dress up a little bit.

Thanks Scarlett for your help. Since we are driving up from South Florida, we will have room to put a jacket in the van. Much easier than when we fly. We are counting the days. Our first stop is St. Augustine, then Savannah and then onward to Charleston. I will give a full report when we return.

Jackets are not required at the Pink House but would be appropriate. I've gone in full "tourist" mode (T shirt, jeans, tennis shoes) and although I felt underdressed, was welcomed graciously. Dressing on the nicer side would be far more appropriate, but you will be welcomed in any case.
Shrimp and grits, fried green tomotoes, she-crab soup, and praline dessert basket for ice cream are all incredible.
Be sure to have a drink in the tavern downstairs.

Hi everyone. Well we were scheduled for New Orleans at the end of October and have now changed to Charlston and Savannah. Hopefully good weather. We will have two nights in Savannah and three in Charlston and would like restaurnat suggestions. We usually expect to spend about $100.00 for two for dinner when we travel.
Thanks
Thanks
