Manor Vail Info

For a group of families with different ages of children mostly preteen and teen we are looking at the manor vail. Just wanted some feed back from anyone that has stayed there and could give me info on the lodging. We have stayed in Breck at the Village and also Copper Mountain Village. Was great because of easy access to everything. If the kids did not want to go out to eat with us they could just stay in the room. Looking for something similar close to lifts and restraunts.

Unfortunately, I haven't stayed at Manor Vail, but I can provide some insight. As you probably know, Manor Vail is located in the Golden Peak area of Vail. Thus, you should be able to walk to Golden Peak lift area, which has one of two ski schools at vail (not counting the third ski school for private lessons only). The beginner's area at Golden Peak is very good, but quite as good as the beginner's area off the gondola in the Lionshead section. The lift in Golden Peak (the "Riva Bahn Express Lift") is typically less crowded than the Vista Bahn lift, which is the main lift from the Village.

At Manor Vail, you will not be walking distance to any restuarants (other than the restuarnt in Manor Vail and maybe a nearby hotel restaurant) or Vail Village. (Okay, you could walk, but it would get old pretty fast). However, a free shuttle will whisk you from a nearby bus stop to the Village (or lionshead). The buses run pretty frequently and have signs that tell you how long until the next bus.

My personal preference is to always be within walking distance of Vail Village, where most of the restaurants and action is. But, for a "group" of families, the lodging near Vail Village may be a little limited for you.

So, as long as you don't mind taking the shuttle bus to Vail Village, I think you'll love the location next to Golden Peak lifts.

Finally, why I haven't stayed there, a friend has who indicated that Manor Vail was quite nice.

hmm-Manor Vail is less than 100 yards to the top of Bridge Street. With street shoes, you shouldn't have any problem walking to shops and restaurants. There is a free shuttle, but by the time you wait the 10 minutes for it to come, you'd already have walked there.

All the MV condos are individually owned, so request the beds you need and for a recently remodeled unit.

Blyvail is by far more expert than me on these matters. I just remember that walk being much longer than a hundred yards. Could have been because I had young kids in tow or it was a cold night.
