Manhattan or Brooklyn - flea markets, funky shops - where are they
I will be spending over a week in Brooklyn. I like flea markets, arts and crafts fairs, whimsical art, unusual home decor, jewelry etc. Any suggestions as to where I might find such places in Manhattan or Brooklyn?
Thanks!

There are flea markets and street fairs all over the city over the weekend, so you might try and google street fairs in NYC for more info and a complete list.
There are a couple of flea markets off 5th Ave from 24th to 26th sts. The two main flea markets that were there every weekend are gone, and new buildings going up in their place. The other very good flea market is on Columbus Ave right behind the Museum of Natural History around 79th ST in the schoolyard, you won't have trouble find it and that is on Sundays.
Hope others can help with places in Brooklyn.
Have a great time while you are here.

Brooklyn born and raised here.
Not too many flea markets in Brooklyn, but your best bet would be the following areas:
Williamsburg
Park Slope
Dumbo
Some might suggest Downtown Brooklyn, but other than going there for some Junior's cheesecake, I would say don't bother.

Check out the City Opera Thrift Shop for some neat things. (It's in Manhattan) Here is one link I found:
