Manhattan - Best Western Hospitality House
Hi All,
I have posted a couple of times previously looking for hotel advice for our upcoming trip to NYC in early March.
I am continuing to look for promotions on Travelzoo & the like but the current situation is that I have reservations at both the Hotel Metro (45 W35th St) & the BW Hospitality House (145 E49th St).
The BWHH has a better rate ($286 as against $325 at the Metro), seems to have more space & also suits our sleeping arrangements better - we have a 2 bedroom suite with kitchen.
To sum up, the BWHH is definitely in pole position just now but as first time visitors to NYC location is important to us. It looks OK on the map but can anyone confirm that it is indeed convenient to the main tourist sites, shopping, restaurants, subway etc?
As always, thanks for your help.

I can only speak of personal experience with the Hotel Metro, which I like a great deal. The location is near Macy's but the street itself isn't enticing(it's got all the Macy's loading docks); the hotel itself, however, has an absolutely fabulous roof terrace, though that probably won't be open yet in early March. The Best Western will be close to Lexington Avenue, and that area has a major concentration of hotels. It might be a bit less convenient in terms of getting around the city since it's on the east side, but that's a close one, and it depends on what you want to do. Both are pretty convenient for the subway. The restaurant choices are probably better near the Best Western, but that again depends on your interests and tastes. Hotel Metro does have 2-bedroom suites for families but no kitchens, as far as I know.

Just to update - we did stay at the Hospitality House & were very pleased with it. If anyone wants to know more you can find my trip report here;

Although the full report isn't finished yet I have already posted my thoughts on the HH. If anyone would like any more information, just ask.

Since JJB's trip report is a few years old I wanted to report that our family stayed in the BWHH this past weekend. It was more than adequate!
My family of 5 stayed there with enough space for everyone (and more if needed). I didn't even know that much space existed in a hotel room in NYC! With the free breakfast buffet (way more than a continental) included I thought the price was reasonable, especially at Christmas time. Two bedrooms (K and Q beds) plus sofa sleeper in living room, dining table, full kitchen, full bath, room service daily, free breakfast = $525 nightly in December. Well worth it.
It was walking distance to many attractions including Times Square area, and even my 5 year old could walk to the show and home.
The decor is dated and the staff is sparse. The elevator is tiny. But all in all, it is clean, spacious, super warm, and friendly in the middle of the action. The W is around the corner so it's easy to catch a cab. We will stay here again for sure.
