Mandarin Oriental NYC
I'm going to be staying at the Mandarin Oriental with my husband for our one year anniversary in April. We originally had reservations at The Plaza, but we cancelled when I found out they're closing at the end of April for renovations. I was too nervous that it may have started while we were there (4/24-4/27).
Anyway, I booked Mandarin Oriental on Expedia for a rate of $479.00 a night. The description was a Deluxe Central Park view room with a king bed. After I booked it and printed out the confirmation, I noticed that it said cannot guarantee king bed. Does anyone think I should be worried? Also, some reviews on the Mandarin Oriental would be great. Thanks in advance.

Interesting. When I posted a suggestion to look into the MO for someone willing to spend up to $500 a night and get a view, people responded that it was nearly $700 minimum. Sounds like you got a great rate.
What time do you arrive. I have found most places not put that disclaimer about not guaranteeing a certain bed type, but unless you are the last to arrive -- late at night, I wouldn't worry too much. But just to be safe, I'd call about two days ahead "reminding" them that this is a one year anniversary and that you are concerned about the king bed. I'll bet there will be NO problem then.

I did a meeting there last spring - and everything - including the concierge service for a couple of very highmaintenance attendees was top notch. Well worth the money. I assume you're aware that the overall take is quite modern - not tradtional?
And that is a super rate! We paid much more - even thought we were doing over 100 room nights.
As far as the king is concerned - I don;t know thre % of bedding by type - but think you should be fine as long as you don;t check in very late.

Thanks for the replies. I actually ended up calling them the next day and he said that he has me down for a king and he said that he will put me on a higher floor for a better view.
Patrick - I actually live 20 minutes over the GWB so we're just going to do the touristy things - see a couple of shows and just do some shopping. We'll be there at 3:00 for check in.
