Mama Mia, special priced tickets!

I get a lot of emails for theatre specials, but TheatreMania just sent me the first one I've seen for Mama Mia on Broadway.
Now through March 14, $100 tickets for $66.25 for Wed and Thursdays and Sunday evenings (except Feb. 15). Call telecharge and use the code MMTHM45. Or go to theatremania.com.

Just about every show, except the major hits, is having a special offer for off-peak performances in January, February and March. Check the Playbill website for many of them.

Thanks for the heads up! Already have my (full priced!) tickets for Mamma Mia, but with these discounts, might be able to swing another play that weekend rather than taking a chance on tkts booth!

Thanks!

Anne, be forewarned that a lot these special offers do not apply to Friday and Saturday performances.

Thanks Howard, I figured that out, unfortunately! I'm not willing to buy tickets for Thurs night in case our plane is delayed. We'll just try TCKTS on Saturday, and see if we get lucky! I was able to get great seats for a friend going this week for a Wed night.

Thanks for the help!

You aren't considering getting Mama Mia tickets at the TKTS booth are you? If so, that will be more than a miracle. It just plain won't happen.

No, Patrick, as I said in my earlier post, I bought our Mamma Mia tickets months ago. Just hoping that we might be able to swing another show while we are there if I can get 1/2 priced tickets. This trip is a Christmas present for my 14 yo niece, so if I can find another show she'll enjoy, we might go.

Anne, if you're coming soon (except Presidents' Weekend), you just might score at TKTS on Saturday. This is a slow part of the year for Broadway. Just be forewarned that Saturday lines are long. You might try the TKTS booth downtown on Friday, when you can pick up tickets for Saturday matinee performances.

We saw Mama Mia in London. If the New York company is half as good, you're in for a real treat. The show is fabulous!

Howard...our trip is Pres. Day weekend... do you think we should just not even try for the tkts booth? I don't want to waste 1/2 a day trying to get tickets (esp. in the cold...I don't know WHAT I was thinking planning this trip in Feb!!) Being that it is also Valentine's Day, I'm guessing no way for Sat night, but maybe we could get Sunday matinee.

Thanks,
Anne

Yes there will be some shows at the TKTS booth Pres. weekend- I have gone this week the last 2 years and this year too- Just got my Playbill discount Hairspray ticket- yeah!!! But I don't wait in the lines all day- I go there about 7:30pm and see what is left- I have gotten some great seats - last minute House seat releases. Look for long running shows. Usually 42nd St. Phantom, I was there between Christmas and New Year's weekend- and even some shows then- REAL HIGH SEASON. I got great tickets to Taboo, and Wonderful Town, again getting in line about 7:15- 7:30pm. It pays to be flexable and all Broadway shows are just minutes away from the booth.

Anne, I suggest you go down to the TKTS booth in Battery Park on Friday and see what they have for the Saturday matinee.
Naturally, Saturday is the busiest day at the Times Square TKTS booth. While Budgetqueen is correct that you might be able to pick up tickets at the last minute, if it was me, I wouldn't want to wait until the last minute to see what's available that night.
What shows are on your list of possibles? I might be able to give you an idea of which ones might be available.

Thanks for the hints! As far as which shows, I'm not sure (helpful, isn't it!). I'm taking my 14 yo niece, so need to consider that. I'll be seeing both The Producers & 42nd St. later this year in New Orleans (I have season tickets to the Broadway series here), so those are off the list. Aida is one of my favorites, and I think Rachel would like it. I'm open to suggestions!

Thanks,
Anne

There is a possibility that Aida will be up at TKTS.
Check the Playbill website (www.playbill.com), join its club (it's free) and see that discounts are available.

Aida is frequently at the TKTS booth, also Phantom is an excellent production. Millie and Gypsy may be options (Gypsy is closing I believe??). Go with a copy of THE NEW YORKER for info on the shows and go from there. Take a chance and see what you get.

Just to update...we had a GREAT time... used the theatermania.com discounts rather than wait in the TCKTS line. Got two great seats to Aida at 7:55 pm (not that we were cutting it close or anything!) on Thurs night, and on Friday bought tickets to Millie for the Sat. matinee...again, great seats. Each seat was $55 (list price $100).

Thanks for the tips!!!
