Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade

Where is a good hotel to stay at for the Macys parade? Also where is a good location to view the parade and what time do you have to get to the spot to get a good view of the parade?

You can find the Macy's parade route on the web. One terrific hotel, moderately priced, too, is the Mayflower, but they are no doubt booked up by now for this year.

Best spots for viewing the parade start at the start, and, of coure, you must get there as early as you can.

You might enjoy going up to the upper west side the day before the parade where you can watch them blow up the giant baloons! Sorry I don't know the time this starts, but it is one of the best parts of the parade.

The blowing up of the baloons usually begins early Wednesday afternoon and goes until about 11 pm.

I would view the parade from Central Park West. You can always see baloons or floats as they begin (before they break down). It is best to get there around 7am.

I suppose I'll sound like some old fogey here, but I've seen the parade in person twice. Watching it on TV is much better. But if you really want to see it in person, then seeing it from above at any hotel along the route I think would be preferable to the crowds on the street.
