Luxury condo/cottage in Kauai?

I fell in love with the Secret Beach Hideway cottages www.secretbeachkauai.com. They were the perfect, most romantic place for our honeymoon but they are all booked when we want to go in August. I was devastated!!!
Does anyone have any suggestions of something they have found comparable on the island? I have been going in circles searching. Any information is appreciated. We don't want any of the big resorts (i.e. Hyatt, Marriot, etc).

Hi jen: One place you might try is www.coastlinecottages.com located on the sunny shores of Poipu Beach - south side of the island. Have not stayed here ( as we rent in Poipu Kai each year - nice condo complex @ reasonable prices ) but I have been curious. Have driven by many times and the units look nice - right on the water. Would probably not be classified as "Luxury" though. Good luck!

Kaua`i Vacation Rentals is the oldest vacation rental company on the island -- with an _excellent_ reputation for providing only the best properties:
www.kauaivacationrentals.com

Everything from cottages, to castles...

You might want to check out Whaler's Cove Condos in Poipu. Small comlpex. They are extremely nice...first class. Premier Resorts is the primary agent for them, but Suite Paradise also handles them. Check out Hale Makai at Grantham Resorts also. Good Luck!

Jen, here are a few I would like to try in our future trips to Kauai:

And if we want to be really extravagant: http://beourguesthawaii.com/mel.html
Happy hunting!

We stayed at Whalers Cove for our very special 20th anniversary. My DH still talks about it being a perfect vacation (and not because the kids were at home ).

It is very small and private. Has a great pool right by the ocean spray. You can take the stairs down to the water and snorkel right there. The lanai is gigantic. We stayed in building 1 so we had an unobstructed view of the ocean and sunset from the living room master bedroom and the great lanai. Whalers Cove is near Poipu.

hi everyone-
thanks for your suggestions. We've made our decision! We will be spending 4 nights at a private new cottage called Twin Hearts on the north shore. The pictures look nice. http://www.vacationrentalengine.com/prg1218.htm

And then Whalers Cove for the other 4 nights. Unit 113 from kauairentals.com

Little bit of luxury, and a little bit of seclusion. My idea of the perfect honeymoon! Maybe on a future anniversary we can splurge on one of the luxury houses Maggi suggested

Good for you jen. 113 will be a great first floor unit in building 1 with great views. Here are some terrific pictures: http://www.kauai1.com/Whalers_Cove_C...oipu_Kauai.htm

The third and fourth pictures are of building 1. Have a terrific vacation.

Great! Glad that you were able to find something. Your cottage on the North Shore looks nice. You will love Kauai.
