Lunch & Missions in San Antonio?
I'm looking for a good inexpensive to moderate restaurant for lunch in San Antonio. We love Mexican and tex-mex food, but I'm open to any great restaurants.
Anything to die for on the Riverwalk?
I'm also looking for recommendations on what to visit. I'm particularly interested in seeing one of the Missions.
Thanks!

Mission San Jose is known as the "Queen of the Missions" and is better maintained and visitor-friendly than the other. It also has the beautiful rose window.
There are many Mexican restaurants on the riverwalk. Casa Rio is probably the best-known but is pretty much a tourist trap. Personally, my favorite would not be on the riverwalk but a few blocks away at El Mercado. The name of that restaurant is Mi Tierra and it has fairly authentic Mexican food. Another place that is great, but not on the riverwalk is Piedras Negras. Your best bet to get there would be to take a cab although it too is fairly close to the downtown area.
Hope this helps. Have a great visit!

Thanks!
I just did some quick research and El Mercado sounds like a great place and a must go. The Mariachi mass sounds fantastic as well. It sounds like we need more than a day to soak all this up!
Will there be any problems with parking, especially on a Saturday at the end of Fiesta?

If you are talking about Saturday, April 27th, that is the night of the Fiesta Flambeau parade which is a lighted parade through downtown San Antonio. The downtown area will be very croweded that night. I don't know where you are staying, but I would suggest that you leave your car at the hotel and take a cab to El Mercado. Going to San Jose Mission should present no parking problems.
By the way, the Fiesta Flambeau parade is very beautiful if you've never been.

Thanks again Native,
Yes, we'll be there this Saturday. I'm not sure where we will be staying, we're staying with an old friend of my boyfriend.
I'm hoping she's either relatively close, or will know the scoop!
I'm wondering if we can park in a lot earlier in the day and drive to her house later in the evening. Sounds like we are in for an adventure!
