Lunch & Dinner in NY

My husband and I will be in NYC for one day on May 4. We love all kinds of food, but we want to have a true NY experience. We also need to eat at places we can get in and out rather quickly due to our limited time. Our plan is to take a Grayline bus tour that will enable us to hop on and off, so places around the usual attractions would be appreciated. Also, where is the best cheesecake? Thanks for your help!

OYSTER BAR - in Grand Central for a quintessential NY experience. Eat at long counter by the take out window. Oyter and pan roasts are fantantic.
(no reservation required)

IL MULINO - best Italian 211-673-3783
guaranteed to be your favorite anywhere.
Shoot for lunch to have a chance of getting in. Absolutely spectacular.
On Third St (between Sullivan & Thompson). The chicken and sausage and ravioli with truffle sauce are amazing!

GRAMERCY TAVERN - 212-477-0777
one of NYC's favorites. Everyone loves it there. On 20th between Park and B'Way.

TRATTORIA DELL ARTE - great food all around, especially the antipasto bar (eggplant capponata *****) and chocolate cannolis. 212-245-9800
on 7th (between 56th and 57th)

I personally would choose to lunch at IL Mulino and quick dinner at Oyter Bar.
BEST CHEESECAKE (per NY Times)
Two Little Red Hens 212-452-0476
2nd Ave between 85th & 86th.
Cab it and take 3rd ave straight up to 85th and 86th . Should be about 15 minute cab ride from bus terminal.
"rich light and perfect balance of sweet and tart, the very definition of phenomenal NY cheesecake !"

For an authentic Kosher New York Deli, stop at Second Avenue Deli in the East Village (Second Avenue and 10th). After chowing down, walk around the corner to Veniero's just off Second on 11th. Venieros has been making cheesecake in the East Village since the 1890s.

I second Il Mulino for lunch. Pricey but well worth the money (IMHO). Enjoy!

Another great cheesecake choice: Junior's -- I think they have a store in Grand Central Station...
