Jack, I'm guessing that they 'fessed up to you because they'd made an error (and how nice of them to do so!) If the plane is too full for all the bags, the airline is simply complying with regulations by removing bags and sending them on later, and isn't guilty of anything. I wonder if they know whose bags didn't make it aboard when the flight leaves; it would be nice to avoid waiting at the carousel for ages for a bag that isn't there.

Can anyone think of a worse job than the customer service counter at baggage claim?

The only time anybody speaks with you is when they are in abject panick or murderous rage.

Of COURSE they know whose bags didn't make the flight! It would probably mean a lot less "pzdof" passengers if the passengers were told their bags were "delayed" than to waste time at the carousel first before the bad news. Air Canada did the right thing w/ JackOneill

Heck, sometimes the passenger is expecting someone to pick him up & could call the party ahead of time & give them the heads up.

Racheal, thanks for the fish story! I laughed my butt off! Can you imagine all the other passengers misplaced luggage that it also stunk up?
