Linda - Should we start another thread with Louisville GTG in the title to attract others that might be interested?

Budman - I will bring some liquids for your checked luggage back to NJ.

Nah - Budman is always up for a GTG even if it involves wearing a grass skirt! Check out Budman's legs at the GTG I attended.

Maybe we need a theme?

I live one hour from Louisville and one of my favorite restaurants (in the entire country) is Lilly's on Bardstown Road. Upscale, longer relaxing dinner, funky atmosphere. Always use in season area vegetables. Entrees about $25. Lots of interesting places with good food along Bardstwon Road. For a casual atmosphere there is a great Mexican place on the river called Tumbleweed. Further out on the river with a great outdoors atmosphere is Captain's Quarters. Lilly's and Captain's Quarters need reservations. Tumbleweed does not but might have a long wait if you go at 7 is.

Still no posting whatsoever of this, on the Europe forum.

Not seeking the "Euro-dite" crowd, so much?

I spoke to the restaurant and they wanted to know if we could do it at 9:30 instead? They have some big party at 10....

Thanks, LLinda. Now that you mention it, I think that is the right name of the place. But with that name, shouldn't the cuisine be more Italian? Has it changed substantially in the last 5 years?

Yes! That's exactly the one! My husband and I would walk the 2-3 blocks from his apartment the university provided him and have dinner there frequently. He sure loved the sweetbreads and I loved the camarones and the empanadas. As I recall, when they first opened they were offering wine by the glass for around $3 that was quite good. We could have a fantastic 3 course meal there with wine for an extrememly reasonable amount of money. Ahh, I think I may have to go back to Louisville one of these days. Anyway, thanks for clarifying the restaurant for me and for the yummy memories it induced!

Wow --- I found this thread just tonight. If you go to Lynn's, my niece is the hostess (most every Sunday). She loves it there and it's a great place. I really like the kooky gift shop out front, too. I always take out of town company there, and have never heard a complaint. Go hungry --- the meals are king sized Have a great time!!!

Well, we had massive flooding and all sorts of problems in KY this weekend. But today it was 68, sunny and gorgeous! Lynn's was PACKED, but of course we had a reservation and were seated immediately. I'm trying to remember the hostess..tiny, straight blond hair? Yes, the portions are huge! Really enjoyed seeing Lara, Judy and meeting Mike. Of course, everyone was happy to meet Rick- he gets such glowing reviews about being the most romantic hubby, etc, I'm glad to show him off! Mike traeted us to some of his vino- wow, you do it right! THANK you! I might age the Cab, the petite is taunting me at this moment. Rick heard the details on some of the GTGs and he is now a fan.

It was a delightful morning at Lynn's; we chatted, we laughed, and the deluge stopped in honor of Mike's visit...
... and now I am the proud owner of 2 bottles of the famous budman wine.

Hey, Linda, really had a nice time having Sunday brunch with some nice folks. Thanks for the invite and organizing this event. Enjoyed talking about wine & Switzerland. Did we convince Rick to come to the Myrtle Beach GTG on 18 November? Maybe a little golf the day before & the day after?

The only thing missing was the bloody marys. Darn those blue laws.

It was nice to see kybourbon again and the bourbon beer and meet the starspinners and hearing about the grand art fair.

Hoping to make it back to the area and meeting up again. Meanwhile, don't forget the NJ/NY GTG.

kybourbon, a veteran NJ/NY GTG Fodorite, gave me something unique to share with our group on 21 October. I don't know if I can wait until then.
