Louisiana Events this August

Many of you are planning trips to New Orleans and have asked about things going on in and around N.O. since Katrina so I thought I'd list a few upcoming events:

N.O. Satchmo Summerfest, Aug 3 - 6, between Ursulines and Barracks Street, and The 6th Annual Satchmo Club Strut, the musical club crawl down Frenchmen Street, on Friday, August 4. For Satchmo Summerfest schedule, visit www.satchmosummerfest.com.

National Hot Air Balloon Championships,
Baton Rouge, Pennington Center and Perkins Road Park, Aug 2 - 6, www.laballooning.com

Delcambre Shrimp Festival, Delcambre, LA, Aug 16 - 20

Le Cajun Music Awards Show & Festival
Lafayette, Blackham Coliseum, Aug 19 - 20.

Send an email to the family yesterday to see if they were interested in going to NOLA for xmas, got one ok, one maybe and one "it would be like dancing on their graves." So, I guess that's a no...

Brandie, I probably missed a lot more going on in and around N.O., but as I said, I was just listing a few events.

Dancing on their graves? How sad. Glad not everyone feels that way or it will be the graves of businesses forced to close.

Our family is planning a trip back to New Orleans in the fall. Usually great weather/temps in Oct, and the kids love Mid-city Rock n Bowl. It's always a fun trip, and we want do our part to help support the local economy.

An article from Yahoo.com:

Lookin' at that Voodoo Music Festival. None of the bands really thrill me, but it'll be something to do.

BayouGal, what's the status of the St. Charles Streetcar?

Now, Kal, that's NOT a contest, that's a way of life . . . and it's even better (read HOTTER!) after a hurricane. There are blessings and cursings for living in the sub-tropics!!!;-)
