Los Angeles Car Services
Friends and I are tired of taking airport van shuttle services and the LAX-Valley Flyaway bus to and from the airport. Does anyone out there know of an excellent/reliable car service? I know a former neighbor of mine who only used a car service as he was a museum curator and always off to the airport flying somewhere. It's too bad I wasn't interested at the time then I could have asked him. There are plenty listed under Google...it's just picking one. We'd be going from either the San Gabriel Valley...Pasadena...or THE Valley...covering the area from Burbank to Woodland Hills as we all live in different areas. We would also not be traveling at the same time so would only need a car for one person as we vacation at different times. Thanks in advance. If you need to page me, I'm a regular on the Asia forum. Happy Travels!

Hi Guenmai. I live in West Hills. Many years ago, I hired Sam, of Signature Limosine, to pick up my young neice from the Long Beach Airport, and "hand deliver" her to our summer beach house in Oxnard. I was quite pleased with his service and I do believe he is still in business.

Can't imagine why anyone would tire of the Flyaway if it's convenient to where they live. It's cheap and comfortable. And to me, it's much better than having some strange driver show up at your home one morning, on a day when you practically have a sign on the front door saying "We're going away for a while! Help yourself to the place!"

Yesterday I tried to find this thread and couldn't. I typed in my name in the search box several times and absolutely nothing showed up under my name as I don't usually post in the U.S. forum. I'm a regular on the Asia forum. Now, I accidentally found it.
To the person above...this is the situation with the Flyaway bus service. I came home from Bangkok a few months ago and when I got to the Flyaway stop at LAX, people had been already waiting for an hour and all of the Flyaway buses that drove by had been FULL....buses kept driving by, not stopping. I then waited for a good 30 minutes and then decided to walk all the way to Terminal 1..pushing my cart with 3 suitcases and a carry-on bag and praying that luggage wouldn't fall off. I rent a serviced apartment in BKK therefore take items back and forth.
Anyhow, as I was walking to Terminal 1, others got the same idea and the herd followed. At Terminal 1, it was crowded, a madhouse, and the wait was another 30-plus minutes before I FINALLY got on a Flyaway bus to get back to my car in the Valley. I was beyond exhausted as I'd just gotten off of an 18 hour, non-stop flight on which I didn't sleep. So, I've had it...have totally had it!
And to take a raggedy taxi and deal with grumpy taxi drivers, who argue when I tell them what route to take to my residence, as if I don't know where I live, costs me at least $85.00 plus tip. They want to take me the most expensive routes of course.
Also friends have had the situation of van shuttle services overbooking and not showing up period and having to jump in their cars and drive frantically to the airport to make an overseas flight. And then leave their car in the airport parking lot at $10. a day for 2 weeks.
The last time I was on a van service I had just gotten off another 18-hour flight. When I got home, to Pasadena, I noticed that the van driver had given my suitcase to the passenger who was dropped off before me. I was the last person dropped off. It was night time and pitch black out where the other passenger lived. I always try to watch to see what luggage is going out of the back of the van, but couldn't see anything that night since the street was so dark. So, I had to wait an hour until the van driver could refind the house and go get my suitcase and give the other passenger his suitcase. It was very late at night and I just wanted to go to bed as I had to be at work at 7:30AM the next morning. So, a car service is sounding "REAL" good to me at this point. I've paid my dues for 30+ years of taking other means of transportation to and from the airport. Happy Travels!

Guenmai, if you look at the top of the page and see the "Welcome" box, you'll find your name in blue when you are logged in. That's what I meant by clicking on your name to find the threads you've started or contributed to.
I don't know why anyone would question your interest in using a car service. If you can afford it, it's obviously the most convenient way to go. If you're female (as I am) and traveling alone, it's even more appealing.

Thanks Jean. I must be sleeping. I was typing my name and/or car services in the Search box and nothing was coming up.I don't know why I forgot to click on my name. I must be in dire need of a vacation.
And yes, as a female, a car service is sounding really good. My sisters' Godmother has been using one for some years as she's just tired of driving around L.A. and sitting in traffic...so the service delivers her places and she tells them what time to pick her up and take her home. I'm not able to get in touch with her at the moment. When I can, I'll ask which one she uses, too. Happy Travels!
