Looking to stay in Galveston, Texas
My family and I are looking to take a trip to Galveston, Texas in the fall. I'm not sure where to stay I've seen multiple listings for The Tremont House, and The Hotel Galvez but I was wondering if anyone had any feed back about either of the two?
Thanks!

If you're travelling with children, considering renting a beach house, you can find some just feet from the beach and at good rates, week and weekend rates. Check out www.vrbo.com. Have fun!

If you are travelling with younger kids to pre-teens, I would suggest checking out Moody Gardens. I've not been in the hotel but it would surely be convenient for the attraction.
It is a bit of a drive to the other attractions of Galveston but many could spend their entire time there.

tremont and galvez are both nice. the tremont is on the strand (downtown) and the galvez is on the seawall. tremont is a little more ritzy, family would probably do better at the galvez.
if you are staying on the seawall, either the galvez or san luis would be the only non-chain hotels i would recomend. some of the others can be run down. the chains like holiday inn or la quinta are safe bets

I'd recommend the San Luis - posh, newer property, Moody Gardens - tons of activities on site, or the Galvez - charming historic hotel.
Definitely check out Moody Gardens - they have an aquarium, rain forest pyramid, IMAX, etc. on property, and you may want to spend a day at the new Schlitterbahn water park - part of it is indoors, so you can still go when the weather gets cooler. Have fun!
