Looking for Key West recommendations
Hi all! We're heading down to Key West for a few days and need some recommendations.
Can anyone recommend a good snorkeling trip to take? Any particular company that anyone can recommend?
What about good local restaurants?
Is a trip out to the Dry Tortugas worth the time and money for 2 adults on a 3 day trip?
And finally, I've seen lots of different sunset cruises offered. Are any of them better than any others?
Thanks for any and all help!
Wendy

I highly recommend Floridays for either snorkeling or a sunset cruise...it docks at the Hyatt. Key West has lots of great restaurants in all price ranges. If you could narrow your preferences a bit it'd be easier to give you advice. The Half Shell Raw Bar is casual and has great fresh fish. El Siboney is good for Cuban food. On the more upscale side Square One, Michael's and Alice's are great. There are lots more, but that's at least a start.

Wendy,
I envy you guys!I've been looking for decent flights from Atlanta to the Keys for weeks...prices are higher than traveling to London!
If I may ask, where are you departing from, and what site did you book on?
I personally love the Casa Marina Resort there, and spend a great deal of time sampling various key lime pies!

We just booked our flights 2 days ago and found tickets for $128 roundtrip from Houston Hobby. I booked directly through Delta, online. Needless to say, I was overjoyed with those prices!!! We actually have to change planes in ATL, so if you hurry, you may be able to get some really cheap fares.
Susan, Thanks for the recommendations! We're looking for some of the local specialties. Seafood and Cuban food sound great! We probably won't do anything too upscale as this will be a very laid back trip and I don't want to change out of my shorts or swimsuit the entire trip.
Anyone have any thoughts on Dry Tortugas?

I'm sort of ambivalent about the Tortugas.
First, it requires nearly a full day to do (this depends somewhat on what mode of transportation you choose - seaplane or boat).
Second, it's becoming more popular, so the crowds are a little more intense than they were, say, 5-6 years ago.
Still, it's a great place to snorkel and/or dive. The reef is still somewhat "fresh." But there's not a heck of a lot else to do there, unless you like looking at an old fort and a bunch of birds.
There are no restaurants there. For that matter, there's no coke maching or fresh water there, either.
But it is a neat place.
