Well, I'm up way too late to still be looking at this stuff. Just posted on facebook, but after reading through this, had to do one memory.

Waiter from New York. Never let us use his very little car and always kept it locked. Last night of season, he drinks too much, passes out and leaves the car unlocked. There had to be 20 of us who pushed that thing with the steering wheel locked from the guys living stales to the inside of the dance hall. Never laughed so hard in my life.

I know that picture is somewhere. I will post when found on my return to Chicago. Look for it on the facebook group.

Oops, by the way. I was Tiger Tony then, much younger, much dumber, but I'd give a million for the energy I had with kids back then.

Can't believe I found this... I had my first away-from-home job at SBF in 1966, working as a maid and baby-sitter. Roomed with LouAnn from Missouri. The reason I found this thread was in wondering where Ed Pugh has gotten to, and his name came up in the search. Anyone keep up with him?

I remember the song Up On The Roof from that year, good weather, good food, teaching my roommate to drive a stick shift(borrowed Ed's car), and the sweet little girl I babysat.

I worked @ SB 1 summer ('89?). I lived/went to college in SD and found the job in a summer jobs catalog. It was a crazy place. Fun activities. I got to do lifeguard, do kids & teen activities, and go along on a couple senior outings. Crazy, imaginative staff gatherings happened after hours. I worked with Violet and "Bubbly Becky", and others that my memory fails to recall. When I talk about it, I do mention the Chicago cop patrons.

OMG! My son found this site (he is 41 now). Our family always went to Sunnybrook the Saturday after the 4th of July. I believe we started going in 1972 and every year after for about 15 years. I remember Pete and Sandy Farrah, his parents, the Vigilante's, the Gersch's, the Dolehide's. We went with Ed & Diane Kaczmarek...our name is Stan & Carol Plebanski. (our children's names are Ken & Valerie). All the memories posted here are etched in our minds forever. No one mentioned the square dancing nite with that little couple teaching us....crazy! We always stayed on the side with the volleyball court. One week a group of people completely emptied out a room and put all the furniture outside on the grass and put a HORSE in the room! We were part of the "Sunnybrook Olympics"...(could not do that today! LOL). I also remember Denny having a wife by the name of "Marsha".
We are now in our 60's but truely regret not being able to take our grandchildren back in time to where we had so much fun! I guess all our old movies of sunnybrook will have to do.(sob)

This is so fun to read. I went to sbf every year in the early 80s with my parents and my five brothers. I had forgotten about some of these things! I remember jumpin Jeannie and tiger tony. I remember the sand dunes and pb sandwiches. I wish it was still around. I would love to take my kids there!

I totally remember SBF and just went online to see if it still existed. I'm sad it's gone. Although I was only there one time in 1972 for a week it was one of the best times of my life. I met so many friends there. My parents only saw us kids at meals and when we had to come in for the night otherwise we had total freedom!!! I remember that we use to play volleyball in the evenings after dinner and hang out in the teen club. We would then go over to fiddlemans to play pool and then sneak in there swimming pool before going to the kitchen for some PBJ cookies and anything else we could get our hands on.. All the van trips we went on for Ice Cream at Shermans and the beach on Lake Michigan. Meals at the teen table were awesome. One day we rented bikes and rode a little too far onto a neighboring farm and were greeted by two large mean German shepards. There was also this family nearby that owned some horses that they would rent out for rides. They were pretty lax on rules and we got to really ride them full gallop. Awesome memories. I wish it was still around but am thankful I was able to go there even if only for 1 week. I will never forget SBF!!!
