LOOKING FOR CONDO STYLE RESORT IN FLORIDA FOR ELDER PARENTS
My parents would like to stay at a condo style resort this winter for about a month in Florida.
I am seeking accomodations that would offer amenities such as close or on the beach, pool, restaurant and close to attractions. Also of interest would be a location that is consider safe and offer other things to do during the day beside going to the beach. Does such a place exist?
Thank you!

It's not on a beach, but Vistana in Orlando, very near Disney, was a nice set up.Nice grounds, shuttle bus, several pools and a market on the property.(Be sure to request a lower level unit if they're not up to doing stairs). I think I heard Sheraton now runs it, and there was another Vistana in St.Augustine,FL.

You could try vrbo.com to get a fix on condo vacation rentals in FL, but you'll have to narrow your area choices a bit (which, I guess, is one purpose of the post).
One area I'd suggest is Melbourne Beach. They can probably get a nice condo with the amenities you mentioned and near the water for about $2000/mo in winter. They'd be about 90 minutes from Orlando.
I wouldn't recommend Orlando for them, no matter what resort they'd pick. No beach, too crowded, too Disney. If they stayed in a place like Mel Bch and absolutely had to go to Orlando, it's not a long drive. Plus, they'd be close to Vero Beach, Cape Canaveral and other attractions.
Just one person's opinion. I'm sure you'll get others.

What about taking a place on Sanibel? It's a bit pricey, but it's small enough for them to have beach time as well as being able to go to the little shops, etc. Good places to eat, too. My mom and dad live in FL. and we often visit the island as they live near there. My in-laws stayed there for two weeks last year and loved it. They are up there in age, too, and were able to get by without a car and rented a couple of bikes, too. It can get a bit crowded in the winter, but it's not like a circus. Just a thought!!

Last year we rented a Condo at Beachwalk in Naples, FL. We loved it. It is within walking distance to the ocean, the library, the stores. It has a lovely pool and tennis courts. This year we are going back for two months. We really enjoyed this place.

Come, come now, lets not get picky. Naples may not be on an "Ocean" but it is on the gulf of Mexico, which is a large enough body of salt water for most people to call an ocean. Just below Naples is Marco Island (get there over a bridge) which also has some very nice condo accomadations as well as being safe, surrounded by salt water, beautiful sandy beaches, lots of restaurants, more developed than Sanabel, but not as pricey. My folks love it.
