Looking for comments on Penrods/ Nikki Beach SoBe

Well, we have a few days in South Beach coming up. Going to Nasdaq 100 Tennis on Key Biscayne and staying on the cheap at the Marriott South Beach.

1 Ocean Drive has several restaurants and see and be seen places: Pearl, Penrods Champagne bar and Nikki. Any comments on these?

Definitely go to Nikki Beach. It is a club/bar on the beach with beautiful palm trees, candles, lounge chairs, hammocks, good music, dance floor on the inside part. i would recommend going before 10pm so tht you dont have to pay a cover charge. this place is awesome. I have not been to the other places you mentioned. IF you are looking for a great restaurant , go to Joe's Stone Crab! it is famous and the crab legs are to die for

Joes is known for Stone Crab, and the only part of the crab that is eaten are the claws (not the legs). And they are good but not really much better than anywhere else; what Joe's is famous for is the atmosphere of the "see and be seen crowd"; you know, where you have to grease the guy at the door with a few hundred bucks if you want a table right away. If that's the kind of place you want to spend big bucks to eat in (and plenty do), you will not be dissapointed.

I actually thought Joe's Stone Crab was very relaxed. But I went for lunch without a reservation and was seated right away. I heard that dinner is when there is a huge demand. My lunch was very reasonable. 2 of us shared a plate of the crab claws for $18, and we had a side of delicious fried chicken for $5. That is reasonable and if you go for lunch i think you will be very happy with your experience.
have fun!

Love Pearl and Nikki. Pearl is a champagne bar and recently opened a sushi bar that is divine. The style is retro, with bright orange and whites. Nikki is more laid back, with opium beds (bottle service only) and tee-pees, lounge chairs, fires, and a dance floor. Brunch on sundays in the garden is really good. Sunday night is by far the best night to go.
