Looking for a Show that's less musical and more theatrical!

We will be in town late December and already have tickets for the Blue Man Group, Stomp and Accomplice and are looking for one more show idea! The kids really want less singing and more acting!
I am thinking about In the Heights, Wicked and Spring Awakening!

Any advice?

Thank you in advance!!!

Hi again, tambennett. I'd suggest considering some plays rather than musicals. One I've wanted to see, but have not had the chance yet, is The 39 Steps, which is based on a Hitchcock film. It was well reviewed in the New York Times - If you have not checked out their website, its a good resource for theater-going.

If anyone else here has seen this play, I'd love to hear whether you liked it.

Can you explain what you mean by less singing and more acting, since the three you have mentioned are all musicals are they not?

All three of the recommended musicals are very musical, so I don't think they are what you want.

The 39 Steps is actually a very good idea. It's very entertaining and funny. Boeing Boeing is also very funny, but I don't know if it would appeal to kids (how old are they?). If your kids are Monty Python fans, then Spamalot; though definitely a musical it sill has the same antic energy of the show, and that's the true appeal. (This is perhaps the only current musical I could say that of.)

Fuerzabruta might also appeal to the kids. Not a muscial and lots of people flying around the theater. Think of it as a kind of airborne Stomp.

And perhaps Wintuk ... from Cirque du Soleil.

My 14 year old went to The 39 Steps with his drama class and he really liked it - thought it was quite funny and witty about theatrical conventions. He's a NYC kid and has seen a fair amount of theatre, he loves Fawlty Towers and Monty Python, if that guides you at all.
