Logan Airport Hotel Question.

Hi, I am asking this for a friend. She and another friend are flying into Boston the first week of May. They will arrive around 8:00pm. They will then pickup their rental car (the next morning I presume) to travel through MA, NH and Maine.

What would be a good Boston Airport hotel
for them to stay at on the night or their arrival. Shuttle service, reasonable rate, safe and clean and where they could get something to eat before retiring for the night. Thanks.

Do not know about rates - which in addition to convenience is all I imagine you really need to be concerned about considering hours of arrival and departure. Airport Hilton is right on airport property and served by free shuttle loop bus that circles Logan.

Do not know if rental car shuttles also serve Hilton, but if they do not, you would just hop on same shuttle in AM and return to any terminal and pick up appropriate rental car shuttle.

There are a number of other hotels that list themselves as Revere or East Boston and are close to airport, but not served by this same airport shuttle. I would imagine they are less expensive, but also less convenient.

for the hilton you do not need a shuttle...it is right in the middle of the airport....the hyatt harborside has a shuttle and it is on the airport property but too far to walk...you can often get this on priceline by the way...

one warning...many hotels that advertise themselves as logan hotels are quite far from the airport and thus are inconvenient or are not near to places to eat...check out exactly where they are...

there is a brand new suites hotel adajacent to the airport ...not sure of the name but it is less than 1/2 mile...maybe embassy suites??

hampton inn in east boston/revere is also near and quite new and has a shuttle...

the holiday inn is near but very old and not so nice...

the hilton wold be the most expensive of the bunch unless they have a special...

priceline is very good in boston...take a look at www.biddingfortravel.com and click on boston hotels for an example...

i would go for the hyatt myself or the hampton inn...hyatt is not upscale...

I saw that Hampton Inn recently and I don't think they have a restaurant and there was NOTHING within walking distance except for parking lots and factories. Not even a convenience store.

8:00pm would actually be a good time to pick up a rental car and drive a half-hour or so towards their destination and find a motel outside of the city. Dealing with getting back to the airport in the morning to get the rental car and then dealing with morning traffic will be a mess in my opinion.

Last time we stayed at Logan we stayed in a Hyatt. We have also stayed at Hilton but got a really good internet price at the Hyatt.

We always stay at the Harborside Hyatt at the airport when we arrive at Logan in the evening. Hyatt shuttle bus takes you right there. Good rates and a killer view of the Boston skyline across the bay. The water taxi is right in front of the hotel also, and we take it over for dinner in Boston, but the restaurant at the Hyatt is fine, too. My husband then takes the shuttle to the car rental in the morning and picks me up with the luggage.
