Lodging on Catalina Island

I'm thinking of taking my husband to Catalina in June for a suprise trip to celebrate his 50th birthday. What is the nicest hotel there?

I saw in today's LA Times travel blog a deal on a new hotel in Avalon. Don't know anything about it but it looked interesting enough. http://travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-blog/?p=1768

The nicest hotel? The Inn on Mt. Ada. Will you consider a condo? Check out Hamilton Cove.

The Inn at Mt. Ada would be the nicest, but for any money, I'd stay at the Pavilion Inn. Love the location in the heart of town, and the large patio and grass area with lounges.
You can get tired of the crowds in town, and it's so nice to relax in the sun in the patio.

I really like the Snug Harbor Inn on Catalina. It's right on the water in Avalon and the rooms are nicely decorated and very comfortable. I believe they also do some kind of romance package that includes massages and a dinner-- I forget the details-- but that might be nice for a special occasion.
