Lodging in Fredericksburg, TX

I am looking for a downtown location for one night in October (a weekend). I know this excludes some places since they often require a 2-night stay. A hotel or inn is just fine as hubby isn't a B&B kind of guy. I've looked at the reviews here and was just wondering if anyone has anything new to add? I've stayed at Das Keidel Inn myself (twice) in the past and just loved it, but was looking for someplace new.

Thanks!

I thought most hotels are chains like Days Inn and the like.

Here are 2 threads for some ideas:

kkukura, I have seen such mixed reviews on the Holiday Inn Express -- what did you think of it?

I found it clean and quiet. The breakfast bar area was also clean and well stocked. I usually stay in Holiday Inn hotels because they provide clean rooms, comfortable beds and pillows, fluffy towels and decent showers. They are not top of the line, but by no means are they shabby. I also earn Priority Club points to use elsewhere.
