Lodge at Torrey Pines recently?

HI,
Has anyone stayed at the Lodge at Torrey Pines lately? Thinking of staying there soon to visit San Diego. Any other suggestions for a really nice property? La Valencia, Hotel Grand Del Mar, etc.? Looking for luxury hotel in good location...thanks.

Haven't stayed in any of the mentioned properties but live locally. They are all luxury. The La Valencia is in the heart of La Jolla so if you want a location where you can walk to shops, restaurants and the beach that is the spot. it also has wonderful ocean views. The Lodge is on a golf course overlooking the ocean so if you are into golfing you might want to stay here, the US Open was just played on that course. Have only seen pictures of The Hotel Grand Del Mar and i'm sure it's very grand, but would require driving to every where and no ocean views.
If it was my pick i'd probably go for the La Valencia as I like to walk around in La Jolla.

HI,
Thank you so much. Since you are a local, any great restaurant recommendations? We love seafood, and all food really.....and do not also mind local dives, if the food is great.

Appreciate the help so much. Thank you.

Of these three here is a summary:
La valencia- older historic property. great location right on the main street of La Jolla. Probably a bit dated, aging grand dame property with smaller rooms.
Lodge at Torrey Pines- also oceanviews, will need to drive, older property but appears updated in an arts and crafts way; elegant. Great restaurant here.
Grand del mar- is the swankiest grandest newest and most luxurious of the three. Set in Carmel Valley amidst high end tract homes, also will need to drive everywhere but it is an oasis of luxury.

In La Jolla, Jacks of La Jolla is a hot place to go to. I liked the seafood there; can't remember if it was halibut or seabass. George's at the cove has great views and good food as well. The lodge at Torrey Pines is a highly regarded culinary destination. Arterra in Del Mar, Carmel Valley is also highly regarded. Pacifica Del Mar has great views and also great food. Downtown san diego has many great restaurants and is worth an evening.

also, they must all have websites you can check out to get a feel for the aesthetics of each place.
