Lodge and Spa Cordillera

I am taking a mine spa vacation for myself in July, will have a jeep and am planning on the holtel listed. A bit pricey, but wondering if anyone has stayed there before, and besides golf, what are some other activities after one has done all the spaaing they can do?

I assume you mean Cordillera outside Beaver Creek? If so, the only thing to do besides Golf is hike. I'm not a huge fan of Cordillera - its merely ok. I think its priced similarly to Canyon ranch, and not nearly as good.

Jill: I too am assuming you're looking at resort in Edwards, CO. Cordillera has the 3-4 golf courses. There's hiking, mountain biking, fishing-gold medal waters, horseback riding, etc. You're only about 15 minutes from Beaver Creek and 20 minutes from Vail so you have the restaurants and shopping of these 2 resorts as well. The Vilar Center in BC has world class music and shows - Vilarcenter.org. The Ford Amphitheatre has concerts-free on Tuesdays- throughout the summer. I would definitely rent a car. If you just want to relax and get away from it all, Cordillera is great. But it is out of the way from shopping and nightlife. You might also want to check out the Sonnenalp Hotel. They have spa facilities (less extensive than Cordillera), reserved tee times and they're in the center of Vail. Email me if you have any more questions. b

you might also check out the vail cascades. i stayed there last summer - it's a little bit outside the center of vail, but the service was great.

as an aside, i recently had a very bad experience just trying to get info for a potential stay at cordillera. i'm taking my business elsewhere.

after just getting home from Cordillera, I must say that with the exception of the spa- the overall service was just fair. We had to call to have our beds turned down- (an $800 a nite room); the menus in the room were outdated by 3 years- called from room service and told they had not had that item for 3 years- one staff member told us they would have a free shuttle to the airpot for us- when we called to reserve the shuttle the day of our departure we were told by another staff that was no longer a service they provided- but finally did when I asserted myself. Got lunch by the pool- a salad. Served with no rolls until we asked for them- 2p in the afternoon and they were not out of the oven yet- despite the fact that lunch was served from 11-2. The scenary was fabulous- the pool and spa facilities were great- but one hand does not know what the other one is doing at this hotel! Needs to be better managed, and develp some sort of mission statement as to their priorities for guest services.

Wondering if anyone has any updates for the spa and hotel service. Planning another tip here in July. Thanks!
