Lobster

I finally saved enough money for a three-days trip in New England (from 12/18/12/20). I will be staying at Wentworth By The Sea hotel, New Castle, NH and I'm looking for some places to eat great seafood ...lobsters in particular. I don't really need some fancy restaurants, just great food. And I actually prefer to doing some "hand-ons" with my seafood (hmmmm... yummy broiled lobster!) Any suggestions? I don't mind driving too.

Try Brown's or Markey's in Seabrook (about 20 minutes from the Wentworth) They are across the street from each other on Rt 286. You can drive south down Rt1a to get to Rt 286 and its a very pretty drive along the ocean. Brown's is only open on weekends this time of year. Not sure about Markeys. Very very casual, byob, eat at picnic tables kind of places. Local lore says if you are a Democrat you eat at Markey's, if you are a Republican you eat at Brown's. There may be other places closer. Chauncey Creek in Kittery comes to mind but I'm pretty sure they're closed now. There's a Weathervane in Kittery that would be near the outlets if you are headed there.

By the way, you'll love the Wentworth.

We usually have our lobsters at Newicks on Dover Pt Rd overlooking Great Bay (from Portsmouth, head toward Durham). It's a very casual place and very busy. This was the original location but now they have several. They do a good job on fried seafood, too. We think the lobster rolls are good at the Ice House which is a little drive in place near your hotel. Not sure if they are open this time of year.
We haven't tried the places in Seabrook. Thanks bennie.

Thanks Bennie and dfrostnh for your suggestions. I have three days in New England, so I can try Brown's, Markey's & Newick each different day when I am there.

I hope I'm picking the right hotel. Beside Rt286, any scenic drive suggestions in Winter???
