Living in Utah
Calling all Utah residents- Where is the best place to live in Utah if one were looking for:
Access to hiking, biking, mild winters (with access to snowboarding)
Affordable housing (comparable to Raleigh, NC= $225,000 buys a 3 bedroom house)
Average to smaller city, a feeling of community.
Jobs- I am in education, husband is in real estate.
We are young, no kids and are looking for some adventure in our lives and we loved what we have seen so far in Utah (Bryce, Zion, Moab, SLC) Just curious what all Utah residents thought would be a good fit if we ever were to consider moving.. Thanks for your thoughts!

I'm not a Utah resident but really close (40 miles away). You may want to consider St George. It rates highly in every survey I have seen of good places to live. They do have a college there and real estate has not suffered the large hits it has in some other places. It's close to Zion, has lots of hiking and bike paths within the city and just outside. Snowboarding is available within an hour's drive and another 30 minutes will take you into primo snow conditions on Cedar Mountain.
Cedar City is up the highway 60 miles, has a university and a highly regarded summer Shakespeare Festival. It's drawback: it's about 3,500 feet higher in elevation and has much colder winters and a fair amount of snow (St George rarely has any snow).
I'm not really aware of current housing prices in St George but a little research on Realtor.com should find that information for you.
Good luck with your search.

I know this is a old thread but still, St. george is your place. I live here and love it. My son snowboards all winter, yet we have no snow and mild winters. You are close to hiking, mountains and snow. Really we are a very fast growing community ad that is why. Folks are friendly here, lot's of LDS, and they do not care if your not one. Tons of Seniors they love it here to.
great place to live!
