Live in RI-where to go for a long weekend
Hi all-Planning a long weekend away in Feb and always seem to return to the same places we have been many times before. We live in RI and would be willing to drive 6 hours max. We are open to most any kind of accom's- B & B's, cabins, Inns. Any thoughts?
Looking forward to hearing all your great Fodorite suggestions.
Thanks, Cherie

We used to live in RI & always regret never going to Block Island! Our usual favorites were either Cape Cod, the coast of Maine (Norumbega Inn in Camden, Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth, White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport to name a few) or even downtown Boston for the city experience.
What about Vermont? Woodstock, Vermont. The Round Barn Inn near Sugarbush. Stowe.
Tons & tons of places!

Some of my favorites ..
Kennebunkport ME .. White Barn Inn .. wonderful .. luxurious .. spa .. pricey .. but a real treat .. L.L. Bean close by .. might be of interest for you ..
Cape Cod .. In Chatham .. Chatham Bars Inn .. Wayside Inn .. Queen Anne Inn .. many options on the Cape ..
Manchester VT .. Equinox .. or close by in Dorset VT .. the Dorset Inn as well as the Inn at West View Farm .. The town of Manchester offers outlets galore .. Dorset quaint little town with lovely Inns .. short ride to the Vermont Country Store in Weston Vt .. Be sure to lunch at the Bryant House Restaurant if you go ..
Woodstock VT ..
Woodstock Inn .. again quaint little town with a lovely inn .. Definitely do brunch at the Woodstock Inn ... Good skiing very close by
Berkshires in MA .. Many resorts available .. Blantyre .. pricey .. Cranwell more moderate .. Canyon Ranch very very pricey.. Towns of Lee .. Lenox .. Stockbridge .. lovely little towns .. ski at Brodie or Jiminy Peak .. More reasonable rates at Vacation Village in Hancock ..

Let me add a couple of other options to visit if you should head to the Berkshires .. there is much to see .. including the Norman Rockwell Museum .. MASS Moca .. the Clark in Williamstown .. Lots of theatre in the area as well ... Visit the outlets in Lee .. also a favorite of mine .. Chocolate Springs also in Lee .. they make the most delicious chocolates and wonderful scones and pastries ..

Great suggestions. You can also head south. BIL went to Cape May (NJ) in December and said it was lovely. Christmas was a delight, but spoke with locals who told him it's great in wintertime too just to cozy up in a B&B.
You could also do Philly in less than 6 hrs.

Have you considered New York city? We are going in February and searches today showed some pretty good deals for hotels. Marriott Financial showed a package that included free breakfasts, subway tix, museum tix, and more for $239.

You must consider Quebec City. It is truly a taste of Europe just hours from the US. Likely a little more than 6 hours but we live in CT and can do it in 7 and boy, is it well worth it!!!! You must stay in the Old City...Hotel Acadia is well worth every penny. And some OUTSTANDING restaurants! You won't regret it~!
