Little Italy Lunch Recommendation
I am entertaining clients in Little Italy before a meeting at the federal courthouse and need a recommendation for a great lunch spot (Zagat 25 food rating or higher). Thanks so much.

I'm not a fan of any of the Italian places in Little Italy. However, if you go just a block or two north of Little Italy, you can get a good Italian meal at Peasant located on Elizabeth St. between Spring and Prince.

Lombardi's for the best pizza in NYC .. Spring Street ..
or if you want something on Mulberry, Il Fornaio has a good lunch
(but I agree that most all of the Mulberry restaurants are mediocre at best ... tourist traps)

Il Cortile or Da Nico would be the only two that I'd recommend. You can see the menus on www.menupages.com

Just wanted to follow up that we had a great lunch at Il Cortile (125 Mulberry). Although it's probably better suited for a romantic or family dinner due to some kitsch factor in the ambience, there were plenty of business lunches taking place as well. Great food and service with close proximity to the federal court house. Especially excellent pasta fagioli on a brutally cold day. Very happy clients. Thanks, Lizzie and prior fodorite recommendations, once again proving that this board is an incredible resource.

Chanterelle, one of the most esteemed restaurants in North America, is not too far away at Harrison/Hudson Sts. (Zagat rating 27) They have a prix-fixe lunch menu.
I have heard that Benito's on Mulberry St. has very good Italian food.
