Limo or Taxi Laguardia to Times Square

Family and I will be arriving at Laguardia on the Monday before Thanksgiving. Actually I'll arrive at one terminal and they'll arrive 5 minutes later at another. FIrst question: Is there a way to walk from the AA terminal to the DL terminal? Are there interterminal shuttles? Second question: With a family of 5, should I pre-arrange a Limo/Car service or will the five of us fit into a taxi?

Here's a map of the airport. At the botttom it says there's a free bus from the Marine Air terminal to the other terminals. That suggests to me it should stop at all the terminals.

Unless the 5th person is very small, you won't fit in a taxi. Order a car service.

NYC cabs - by law - are limited to 4 passengers. If a driver is caught with more he can get a large fine - and the dispatcher at the airport won;t put 5 people in a cab.

I would call one of the basic car services (not a limo) like Carmel or dial 7 - and ask them the cost for 5 passengers with luggage (specify how much) and an extra stop at another terminal. (If you have to wait any substantial time for the rest of the party to arrive you wil probably be charged waiting time - but should still be less than 2 cabs - which would be about $70 -including tip and toll to Times Square - unless the second plane is really late.

Your other option is to have the car meet the second party and the sole traveler go and meet them at the other terminal.

And no - they're at different terminals - and I'm not aware of any transport between terminals. (Since LGA is a small, very old airport with no international service - there are very few reasons to change terminals here.)

Unless you can get one of the mini-van type cabs, which can fit 5. At the taxi stand, I believe you can request one and they will call it up although you might have to wait a bit.

What andrewmln suggests is misleading and nytraveler is absolutely correct. Yellow cabs in NYC carry only a maximum of 4 regardless of the size of the taxi. If you book a private car service you might be able to get a larger van.

I have never seen a free shuttle bus between terminals at LaGuardia, so I can't help you there, regardless of what the Port Authority site says. However (and I'd like someone to help me here because this is something I've never done) the New York city buses Q33 and M60 stop at all the terminals, but I don't know the order of stops. So you might be able to take the NY city bus from the AA terminal to the Delta terminal for $2 (exact change, no bills). Has anyone ever done this? It's been so long since I took a city bus to LaGuardia that I don't remember which direction they travel

But my actual recommendation would be that you and the family travel separately in 2 taxis.

The trouble with trying to meet- besides getting from one terminal to another - is who knows which flight will get in when. One could be early, one delayed - who knows.

Agree - each grab a cab and meet at the hotel - unless you decide to organize a car service and pay extra for 5 people plus luggage plus driving from one terminal to another (I wouldn;t try to walk).

Maybe it's my Scottish blood getting the best of me ... but I actually usually ENJOY taking public transportation, and doing it myself gives me a feel for how the system works within a particular city. Were I in your shoes, I'd probably give the rest of my party my bags and take public transit to the city .... or would even consider the NY Airport Service for one person, and put the others in a cab. The car service would be a close choice #2. 2 cabs for 5 people would have to a choice made only at 3am when there was no other way.

By bus or cab to Ditmar/Astoria and take the N/R express to West 57th.

Should take a day or two but you'll have a blast playing with public transportation.

Or M60 to Lexington subway or further west for other subway lines.

I know one person who tried it ... 2 hours later he arrived at his UES apartment.

I have done the M60 to the Lex Ave subway (4-5-6) to GCT, and once foolishly took bus instead of subway from 125th to GCT. I'll try the Bus/#7 combo someday. My preference would be the NY Airport Service shuttle, which unlike taxi costs no more if caught in traffic. Re-reading my post, I didn't clearly state that I'd have the other 4 take a taxi AND my bags. I'd use a car service. I just would not hire 2 taxis.

I have taken the free shuttle bus to get from the B terminal to the C terminal at LGA. I used it when we departed LGA - I helped my sister check in at one terminal and then got on the shuttle and took it to my terminal.

There are actually two shuttle bus routes - one that makes a big loop and one that's more of an express. I think it's "Bus A" that goes to the Marine Terminal. I took Bus B. It was about a fifteen minute wait for the bus, but it made the loop really quickly. It's clearly marked where to stand and wait for it, plus there are people outside to help. Both routes are free.

All that being said, I have also had a car service pick up me and a friend at different terminals upon arrival. I used Carmel. My friend's flight was about 15 minutes after mine. She called my cell when she got her luggage, and I called Carmel. They picked me up at Terminal C and then went to get her at Terminal B. It was very easy. Just let the Carmel people know there is an additional stop. There's even a place for it on the online order form. I would HIGHLY recommend that you do it that way.

Compare rates (you may need to call since your group has 5 people):
